Project: “Walking in their Footsteps” is an interactive theater piece dealing with human trafficking. It is designed so that the audience will engage with the actors directly while walking through 5 stations (“tables”), each of which represents one part of a trafficking victim’s journey. Each actor will be given a distinctive part to play and will have to repeat that part with several smaller groups of audience members, adjusting appropriately to the new set of circumstances presented by each new group of people. Each audience member will be given a character card and asked to “play” this role throughout the performance. Each character card will cue the actors how to act and interact with these audience members. The project will aim to be as close to reality as possible without crossing the line of discomfort. The piece will approximate the experience of being trafficked to foster understanding, empathy and compassion for the suffering and exploitation of human trafficking victims.

Skills : Strong improvisational skills, with an acute awareness of a situation and the capability to read another person and react appropriately. Cool head under stress and the ability to stay in character while dealing with multiple people at the same time is key. Knowledge of human trafficking a plus, but not a must.

Background Research : If you are not familiar with human trafficking but would like to research it beforehand, please consult the short films on ArtWorks for Freedom website or watch director Kat Rohrer’s documentary here.

We are only looking for people within the Jacksonville area. Please submit your head shots and resume to
